McDavid's 4th Goal of Playoffs Sends Oilers to Second Round

DALLAS, TX - Connor McDavid's second goal of the game, just 32 seconds into the second overtime period, gave the Edmonton Oilers a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars in Game 7 of their first-round playoff series on Tuesday night.

The Oilers, who were outshot 38-27 by the Stars, advance to the second round where they will face the Colorado Avalanche. The Stars, who were making their first playoff appearance since 2019, see their season come to an end.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with the Oilers taking an early 2-0 lead on goals by Evan Bouchard and Leon Draisaitl. However, the Stars rallied back to tie the game on goals by Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen.

In overtime, the Oilers controlled the play and had several chances to win the game before McDavid finally broke through. McDavid took a pass from Draisaitl and skated into the Stars zone. He then cut to the net and beat Stars goalie Jake Oettinger with a backhand shot.

McDavid's goal was his fourth of the playoffs and gave him a total of 10 points in the series. He was named the game's first star.

The Oilers will now have a few days off before they begin their second-round series against the Avalanche. The Avalanche are the defending Stanley Cup champions and will be a tough opponent for the Oilers.
